Where Faith, Fun, and Sticky Fingers Meet!
If you have ever walked through the church during Vacation Bible School, you may have noticed a few things: Laughter echoing down the hallways, Glitter appearing in places glitter should never appear, Children singing at full volume (sometimes making up their own lyrics) and adults smiling even while carrying armfuls of craft supplies, snacks, and mysterious pieces of construction paper.
Welcome to VBS!
At first glance, Vacation Bible School can look like a week of games, crafts, songs, snacks, and organized chaos. And while all of those things are certainly part of the experience, something much bigger is happening beneath the surface.
VBS is where children discover that church is a place where they belong.
It is where Bible stories come alive through hands-on activities, silly skits, creative crafts, and memorable songs. It is where children learn that God's love is not just something they hear about on Sunday morning, it is something they can experience every day.
During VBS, children ask wonderful questions: "Did Noah really fit all those animals on the ark?”,” Do angels have favorite colors?”, "Can God hear me if I whisper?”, “Does God have big toes?”.
These questions remind us that faith is an adventure, and children are often our best teachers.
One of the most beautiful things about VBS is that the impact lasts far beyond one week. Years from now, many children may not remember every craft they made or every game they played. But they will remember the caring volunteer who learned their name. They will remember feeling welcomed and loved. They will remember that church was a place filled with joy.
Those memories become part of the foundation of faith. And VBS doesn't just change the children, it changes the adults too.
Volunteers discover new friendships. Teen helpers gain confidence and leadership skills. Grandparents and older adults share wisdom and encouragement. Parents see the church community surrounding their children with love. For one week, the church becomes a beautiful picture of what it means to be the family of God, with every generation learning and growing together.
So, thank you in advance to the volunteers who showed up early and stayed late, the snack providers who kept hungry children fed, the decorators who transformed ordinary rooms into extraordinary spaces, the prayer warriors who supported the week from home, and to the families who entrusted us with their children.
You will help plant seeds of faith that will continue to grow for years to come. As Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me." During VBS, that invitation comes to life in colorful, noisy, joyful, and sometimes slightly messy ways. And honestly, we wouldn't have it any other way.
So, here’s to another wonderful year of Vacation Bible School—where faith grows, friendships bloom, and God shows up in amazing ways.
If you would like to volunteer, make a donation, or help in any way, let Jen know.
