Welcome to First Pres SLO

We are more than just an old stone church on the corner of Marsh and Morro. We are an inclusive, caring community that comes together each week to hear the teachings of Jesus Christ and celebrate the grace of God. We are a safe place where strangers become friends, the wounded can find spiritual care, and the skeptic can ask questions. We live as the hands and feet of Jesus Christ, serving others in our community and around the world.

Jazz Vespers Concert

Jazz Vespers Concerts return on Sunday, June 8th at 4 pm with the Jamaal Baptiste Quartet. Jamaal leads the jazz program at Cal Poly and is a noted pianist, composer and arranger. His quartet will feature Ana Nelson on saxophone and clarinet, Dylan Johnson on bass and Darrell Voss on drums. The concert is free/donations appreciated and will be followed by a reception. The meditation will be presented by Pastor John D’Elia.

Join us for Vacation Bible School!

This year’s theme is “Let Your Light Shine” (Matthew 5:16). Each day will be filled with Bible lessons, music, crafts, games, stories, and snacks. We invite you to volunteer for a day or more to help us build relationships with the kids and leaders. If you’re interested, please reach out to Jen to let her know how you can contribute. Together, we’ll learn to share our light with our neighbors and the world!

This Stewardship Season will tell us a lot about who we are, and also about who we want to be. The main point—and we won’t lose sight of this as we create a vision for the coming year—the main point is that we are Christ’s church, responding to Christ’s call, doing Christ’s work among people who Christ loves. Let that frame your own prayer and reflection this season.
