Care Groups

Compassion and caring for all of God’s family is at the heart of First Pres, with particular emphasis for those in need.

We believe that when we are actively engaged in caring for one another we are indeed worshiping Jesus Christ. As a church, it is our desire to be instruments of God’s healing and live-giving presence to a hurting world. God loves you, values you and wants you to olive in wholeness – so do we! First Pres had many trained Care Givers and Pastors and we encourage you to utilize these resources as needs arise.

Pastoral Care

The goal of Pastoral Care at First Pres is to help people grow in their knowledge of God and to mature in their relationship to Jesus Christ. As we realize our true identity in Christ we begin to experience wholeness. In turn, Empowered by God’s Spirit, we become more effectively equipped to be instruments of God's healing, reconciling, and life giving presence in the world.

Deacons

Deacons are the care giving arm of the church dedicated to providing the love of Christ to the family of First Pres. We have 18 Deacons in our church, who together make dozens of caring contacts each month to our church.

Deacons care for our church members in numerous ways- here are a few examples:

  • Regular visits to the elderly and home bound
  • Financial assistance to those in need
  • Prayer, flowers, and notes of encouragement those in grief, sick, or in distress
  • Medical equipment
  • Meals to those in crisis or in need
  • Help with memorials
  • Communion for home bound

For more information or to help with the mission of the Deacons, please contact the church office churchoffice@fpcslo.org or call 805.543.5451.
